Nate Amos has quietly become your favourite songwriters favourite songwriter. Since 2012 he's released absolutely loads of mixtapes on bandcamp under his This Is Lorelei moniker and relentlessly toured two critically acclaimed records with his band Water From Your Eyes, but Nate Amos's first proper studio album came in the form of 2024's 'Box For Buddy, Box For Star'. It's a curious, genre hopping album that manages to stay grounded because of the sheer quality of its songwriting. Getting several deluxe editions with covers and versions from the likes of MJ Lenderman, Jeff Tweedy, Waxahatchee, Snail Mail & Momma to name a few.

Even now with two proper studio records under his belt This Is Lorelei is heavily rooted in DIY and lo-fi culture in the same vein as artists like Carseat Headrest or Alex G but with more alt country and folk sensibilities. 'The Singer In My Band' is his most down to earth record to date, pushing aside the autotune, electronics and pop moments of his pervious work in favour of a more salt of the earth songwriting approach, oscillating between various different characters like Billy and Sarah, he cruises through their respective lives, pinpointing in on various moments in time. Be that a karaoke king or a couple who've hit rock bottom, Amos uses his talent for creating catchy singalong moments to help piece these moments together to create a full picture. 'Singer.." has all the twang and heart of his previous work but feels just that little bit more focused this time around.
