Pond - Terrestrials. LP [Clear Blue Wave Vinyl]
Perth heroes Pond are operating at a higher frequency here. You can almost feel the heat rising rising from 'Terrestrials' as the opener "Skyworks" washes over you. Born with the idea of "Goths in the pub" being the albums true mantra of sorts, this is their ode to the melancholia of 80's Australiana.
Now on their 11th album think massive reverb laced booming drums, flanger and loads of chorus all propelled with an explosively hard and fast approach all playing from a grimy, dark pub stage, resulting in the most pleasantly straightforward yet robust record they've released in years.
Calling this the most simple and straightforward the recording process has ever been for a Pond album they stuck to a simple set of rules, "No fuzz pedal. No ballads. No "Pink Floyd shit." By all accounts, the perceived limitations of this set of rules has resulted in them getting to the core of what made them special to begin with.
