Description

Low Definition first begun as a recording project in Newcastle, NSW, in 2023, by housemates Paul Galloway and Jesse Madigan. The project quickly grew into a close-knit group, with the addition of longtime friends and musical collaborators Louis Durham, Jamaica Sparks, Kobe Kinnavong, and Nathan Connett.

Their sound can best be described as Psychedelic Folk-Rock, but remains open and fluid, allowing the music to naturally evolve into whatever shape and sound feels honest. Influenced by artists like Wilco, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Yo La Tengo, Kurt Vile, and Stereolab, the group’s sonic journey started out primarily acoustic, but has since evolved into a vibrant, full-band psychedelic rock experience.

Thematically, their lyrics delve into longing, self-exploration, and the nuances of life's various emotions. The music serves as a vessel for articulation of these feelings, and the collaborative nature of the band’s creative process allows each member’s input to elevate the songs.
