Stompy And The Heat - Stompy And The Heat. LP
Stompy and The Heat is the new self-titled album release from Scott Wilson. Pete Marin hits the drums.
Bow Campbell on vocals (2011 ARIA winner for best hard rock album-Front End Loader) completes the lineup and brings this crazy world to life!
As writer/producer/guitarist with the 2010 ARIA and multi-award-winning indigenous artist Dan Sultan (amongst his other musical projects), Scott has enjoyed a good deal of success but now takes the opportunity to do something very different.
Originally based around the sound of a cheap 1960s Japanese guitar teamed with the manic drum style of Pete (the Heat) Marin, a raw, bluesy, punky, uncomplicated group of songs has emerged. The guitar playing of Wilson has never been so fearsome, and Marin's drum work clearly displays why he is known as one of the very best getting around.
Stompy and the Heat is a rock'n'roll band far removed from today's musical fairyfloss, or from preachy, earnest lectures. The themes of the new songs include aliens, zombies, motorcycles, the devil, Mongolian warriors, and much more. In Scott's usual writing style, the album crosses musical genres while maintaining a strong direction.
Two instrumentals and a stonking version of Merle Haggard's Honky Tonk Night Time Man seal the deal. As Scott sums it up, "To me, rock' n' roll should sound dangerous and a bit mental, and not too clever for its own good".
