Fontaines D.C - A Hero’s Death (2020)
The tricky “second” album proves to be no problem at all for this Dublin band after stepping their game up even further and releasing this patient and considered follow up to 2019’s phenomenal debut, Dogrel.
Sure, it’s still punky in that piss-head tenement-scheme way, but on A Hero’s Death, there’s a darkened swagger to the guitar interplay that’s the perfect accompaniment to Grian Chatten’s sneering vocals as he paces that stage with the solemn intensity of a man working up liquid courage to deliver an impromptu eulogy back at the drunken wake of his best friend’s funeral.
An amazing band and an amazing record!
