After the breakup of influential band, Red Red Meat in the mid 90s, core member, Tim Rutili went on to form this awesome experimental rustic blues band, Califone.

They definitely had a sound that was truly their own and they made an acclaimed career out of it spanning 10 albums over 20 years. Dead Oceans have released some wonderful deluxe reissues of their back catalogue. Here we have. "Quicksand / Cradlesnakes"

They were one of those early 2000s bands that formed the nucleus for where many side projects grew from.
