Barney Kessel - Live at The Jazz Mill (LP)
What a smashing piece of jazz history!
In Phoenix (of all places!) back in the mid 50s a young jazz enthusiast by the name of Jack Miller would frequent the short lived jazz nightclub, The Jazz Mill with his trusty Knight brand tape recorder in hand to capture the performance of the night’s resident band.
He had a real knack for what was hot and what was not, and almost all of his archived recordings are of early performances from players that would later go on to long and celebrated careers. These recordings are now starting to finally see the light of day. This here is one of those recordings.
Gorgeously pressed on heavyweight red vinyl this is a true delight for any jazz fan.
