Here’s an interesting release in Evans’ rich 60s catalogue. On this session he played with the idea that if he could explore musical conversations with other musicians than why couldn’t he do the same with himself?...

So he set about recording three different corresponding tracks for each piece using overdubs which was a highly uncommon practice in the jazz world of the early 60s. The result is a rather unique recording with complex musical vocabulary that will impress the hell out of anyone that’s a fan of his virtuosic playing.
